Padmanabh Bendre

Padmanabh Bendre is an artist who is also a town planner and architect. Planning a town is not like planning a painting. So many factors come to play while designing a town or a building. Aesthetics does play a role but it cannot be just aesthetics; the pragmatic aspects must be staring at the architect all the time. Bendre however, does not leave his architect-self aside when he approaches his canvases. Meticulousness and precision are the two things that construct his works. When I use the word construct,  because the more he constructs a painting the more he creates the dynamics for their aesthetical deconstruction. He has his reasons to do so which the viewer would understand when the show is seen as a whole. Padmanabh Bendre carries a huge surname with him; BENDRE. His father was the inimitable Narayan Sridhar Bendre (N S Bendre), who had explored all the avenues of modernism. However, for Padmanabh Bendre, the surname is not a baggage or an umbrella, but an ultimate ideal always there to lead him the right path of aesthetics
