Anni Kumari

Anni Kumari (b.1983, Jamshedpur, India) studied BA (Honors) Political Science at Miranda House, Delhi University (2002-05). Thereafter, she pursued BFA (Painting) and MFA (Painting) from the College of Art, Delhi, (2007-2013).

Anni’s solo exhibitions include ‘Spontaneous Order ’ Treasure Art Gallery (TAG) jointly organised Tao Art Gallery( 2023 ) Mumbai ; ‘Alingan: Intimate Embrace’, curated by Dr Alka Pande , Treasure Art Gallery (TAG), India Art Fair (2023) ; ‘Codes of a Future, Traces of the Ancient’ curated by Sanjana Shah, Treasure Art Gallery (TAG) Delhi (2022) and

‘Algorhythms’, jointly organised by Anant Art +Apparao Galleries (2021).

Anni’s works have been exhibited in several group exhibitions in India, including, ‘Life is better in Black & White’ curated by Pranamita Borghain, Art Positive, Delhi (2021); ‘All that is Life’, curated by Saloni Doshi, Space 118, Mumbai (2021); ‘Spiralling into the Absurd’, curated by Amit Jain, Anant Art, Delhi (2021); ‘Blurring Boundaries’ at 079 Stories, Ahmedabad (2021); ‘Shifting Positions’, India Art Fair (2020); ‘Mirrored Questions’, Art District XIII, Delhi (2019); ‘Again & Yet Again’, curated by Shruti Ramalingaiah, OED Gallery, Kochi (2017) among others.  

Furthermore, Anni taught at Ashoka University in the Department of Visual Arts, Sonipat. She was an artist-in-residence at the Piramal Art Foundation, Maharashtra (2016). 

The artist has been a grantee at Sahapedia-UNESCO (2018), Artreach India (2015/17), Lalit Kala Akademi (2013), Ministry of Culture, GOI (2014-16) and the University Grants Commission (2015).
